240904-ANTHROPOLOGY BEAR DIG-JRE-0421.jpg
UAA Anthropology professor Ryan Harrod guides students as they excavate a bear skeleton that has been buried for several years in the forest near UAA. The Alaska Department of Fish and Game donates the corpses of bears shot in defense of life and property or confiscated from poachers so that each fall UAA students can exhume real skeletal remains as part of their forensic anthropology lab.
