Zach Spath and Monika Fleming interpret rock samples during a lab exercise for Geology Professor Erin Shea's Igneous and Metamorphic Petrology class (GEOL A322) in UAA's ConocoPhillips Integrated Science Building. Students in GEOL A322 learn to identify and classify igneous and metamorphic rocks; interpret different rock textures, structures, and mineralogy; and learn about the chemical and physical principles that control the formation of rocks.
