080608-N-7981E-358 ARABIAN GULF (June 8, 2008)-Squadron personnel stand by while an F/A-18E Super Hornet assigned to "Kestrels" of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 137 revs up its afterburners for launch off the flight deck of Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72). Lincoln is deployed to the U.S. Navy 5th Fleet area of responsibility to support Maritime Security Operations (MSO).  MSO help develop security in the maritime environment, which promotes stability and global prosperity.  These operations complement the counterterrorism and security efforts of regional nations and seek to disrupt violent extremists' use of the maritime environment as a venue for attack or to transport personnel, weapons or other material.
