080515-N-7981E-152 ARABIAN GULF (May 15, 2008)- A plane captain assigned to "Sun Kings" of Airborne Warly Warning Squadron (VAW 116) signals to the pilot of an E-2C Hawkeye as the aircraft is prepared for a mission on the flight deck of Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72). Lincoln is deployed to the U.S. Navy 5th Fleet area of responsibility to support Maritime Security Operations (MSO).  MSO help develop security in the maritime environment, which promotes stability and global prosperity.  These operations complement the counterterrorism and security efforts of regional nations and seek to disrupt violent extremists' use of the maritime environment as a venue for attack or to transport personnel, weapons or other material.
