A native bumblebee is captured, documented, and released as UAA Alaska Center for Conservation Science biological sciences program graduate student John McCormack (white shirt) surveys for pollinators and takes plant DNA samples at an apple orchard in Palmer owned by Douglas Ott (red shirt). The site is one of several orchards in Anchorage and the Mat-Su Valley where McCormack is leading a project to investigate which of Alaska's native pollinators utilize orchard crops.
