Santa Lucia Mountains Slender Salamander -Batrachoseps luciae - Depending on what references you read, there are somewhere around 20 species of Slender Salamander in California, some of which can only be differentiated by molecular analysis. They are generally very common and I found two species (that I could positively identify) on my trip up the coast, yet oddly enough I have yet to see the one that occurs in San Diego where I reside.
