A sockeye salmon is measured and weighed before release as UAA Applied Environmental Research Center (AERC) research technician Samantha Golden and research participants John Naumann and Erin Klein collect data on salmon in a fish weir at the outlet of Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson's (JBER) Sixmile Lake. The AERC team are working to assess and monitor JBER's salmon stocks and help natural resources managers determine their role in the diet of Cook Inlet's endangered beluga whale population.
