110411-N-DR144-568 ARABIAN SEA (April 11, 2011) Flight deck personnel work to extinguish an engine fire on an F/A-18C Hornet assigned to Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 113 on the flight deck of Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) after the aircraft made an arrested recovery using one functioning engine. No one was injured and the cause of the fire is under investigation. Carl Vinson and Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 17 are conducting maritime security operations and close-air support missions in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
