080923-N-7981E-518 Pacific Ocean (September 24, 2008)- The Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer USS Momsen (DDG 92) performs plane guard duties for USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) as an F/A-18F Super Hornet approaches to make an arrested recovery on Lincoln's flight deck at sunset. The USS Abraham Lincoln Strike Group is on a scheduled deployment in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility.  Operating in the Western Pacific and Indian Ocean, the U.S. 7th Fleet is the largest of the forward-deployed U.S. fleets covering 52 million square miles, with approximately 60-70 ships, 200-300 aircraft and 40,000 Sailors and Marines assigned at any given time.
